With the vision of enhancing life oriented education, Bangladesh Home Economics College has founded in 1996 in a rented house by a group of dedicated teachers and was approved by  the University of Dhaka as a  constituent college. The college is not owned by any individual, rather all the administrative activities are being directed by  an independent governing body. All the curriculums of this college are adopted from the faculty of Biological Science of the University of Dhaka and the University is directly monitoring all the academic activities.

The college moved to its own facilities in 2015 where it enjoys the tranquil environment, suited to a peaceful and quality education. Well qualified and experienced teachers of the college are always active in their teaching and research programmes, participating national and international conferences, seminars and workshops.

The college provides opportunities for student to learn Food & Nutritional Science, Resource Management & Entrepreneurship, Child Development &Social Relationship, Art & Creative Studies and Clothing &Textile. Home Economics exposes our students to understand the nature and properties of food and social, economic and cultural influences on the evolution of nutritional science, food science and related technology. The student also have the privilege to acquire knowledge on social, emotional and behavioural development of children of different age group. The college also teaches on fundamental principles of budgeting and financial management, home and resource management. The institution renders help to the student to understand the way of commercial design, graphic design and interior decorating. Students also have the opportunity to understand the characteristics of fibre and fabrics, production and marketing of clothing and textile products and develop their skill in fashion design, merchandising and fashion illustration and many

Since its foundation, several graduates from this college have been engaged with key functional positions of the government and private sectors of the country and many countries of the world.
